Everything You Need To Know About Peptides

Peptides have moved from the laboratory into the heart of luxury wellness. They now appear on the treatment menus of longevity clinics and destination retreats, promising quicker recovery, brighter skin and steadier energy. Here is what to know about peptides.

What Are Peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids—which are the building blocks of protein. The body makes them naturally, and they act as messengers, telling cells and tissues what to do. Insulin is the best-known example. Some peptides are established medicines, including those prescribed for diabetes and weight management under medical supervision. Others sit in the beauty aisle, in collagen supplements and skincare. The ones making headlines are a third group, often called wellness peptides, among them BPC-157, TB-500 and Epitalon, which are marketed for recovery, longevity and vitality.

Retreats that once built their reputations on detox and spa rituals now lead with diagnostics, laboratory testing and bespoke programmes, and peptides fit neatly into that language of precision.

SHA Mexico has introduced personalised peptide therapy as an addition to its longevity, detox and performance programmes, following a medical intake with laboratory testing. Peptides are also part of a wider regimen at Lanserhof Lans and Chenot Palace Weggis, and at SHA Wellness Clinic and Six Senses Ibiza, where they are framed less as a technical intervention and more as one component of a broader lifestyle system.

What to Ask Before You Book

A retreat worth trusting will welcome questions. Ask which peptide is proposed and whether it is an approved medicine or an experimental one, who prescribes and supervises it, which licensed pharmacy supplies it, and what follow-up care is available once you are home. Anyone who is pregnant, managing a health condition, taking medication or competing in tested sport should speak to their own doctor first.
