Award-winning wellness retreat Chiva-Som has reopened after a six-month closure for renovations work. Completing the third of four stages of the resort’s first major renovation since its inauguration 23 years ago, the internationally renowned resort was Asia’s first comprehensive wellness resort when it opened in 1995.
So far, the renovations have seen Chiva-Som‘s accommodation and facilities being transformed, updated and modernised, including facilities for the new specialist golf retreat. The Total Golf Enhancement retreat helps guests develop their game through expertise tuition in golf fitness training and golf biomechanics, as well as including spa therapies for relaxation, muscle recovery and skincare.

The Ocean Rooms and Thai Pavilions have been redecorated and upgraded, and a new room category is now available: the Thai Pavilion Suite. The new suites have their own outdoor pantry, outdoor private glass-walled sala, and a private garden space for privately entertaining up to six guests.
Aside from accommodation, communal areas of the resort have also had a complete overhaul to channel a lighter, brighter and more serene ambience. Using local materials, such as sustainably sourced teak, silk and bamboo, the resort has retained and enhanced its quintessential Thai charm.
The Emerald Room, the resort’s dining area, now features a glass wall to offer more natural light and a contemporary space to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. To celebrate, the resort welcomes guest chef, Keisuke Matsushima between December 8th to 11th, who will be serving up his renowned French- Japanese fusion dishes with a wellness twist—and offering in-house guests the chance to learn his kitchen techniques with an exclusive cooking class.

The Fitness Centre has been enlarged, and now boasts a larger gym floor with new cardio equipment, functional and non-functional training equipment, as well as a dedicated stretching space, a private training room, and two fully renovated dance and Pilates studios.
