As the benefits of an alcohol-free lifestyle continue to appeal to a wider audience, sober hiking retreats give women an opportunity to experience a side of travel that is as much of an inner transformation as it is an epic adventure. This September 25–28, 2025, Mary Tilson and Carrie May will be hosting their annual women’s retreat in the breathtaking landscape of Moab, Utah.
This retreat blends adventure with deep personal growth, featuring iconic hikes through national parks, scenic outdoor yoga classes, enriching workshops, nourishing meals, and fireside conversations beneath a starry night sky.
Nestled between Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, this glamping retreat will take place at the award-winning Under Canvas hotel, where luxury safari-style tents provide a seamless connection to nature without sacrificing comfort. Free from the distractions of daily life, guests will enjoy deep, restorative sleep and wake up to the rare stillness of the desert.
Beyond the sheer beauty of the location, what sets this retreat apart is the intentional inner work woven throughout the experience. Stepping outside of daily routines and embracing new challenges allows us to rediscover parts of ourselves that often go unnoticed. Hiking is a powerful metaphor for the sober journey—it’s not about racing to the finish line but about embracing each step, overcoming limiting beliefs, and building confidence along the way.

For many, the biggest fear when exploring a sober lifestyle is the belief that life will feel less joyful or connected without alcohol. But past retreat participants have discovered the opposite: that true connection, laughter, and a profound sense of belonging flourish in spaces where sobriety is celebrated.
