If you’ve been struggling to decide which of COMO’s lush Bali locations to visit, then there’s finally a solution: a unique six-night retreat package which lets you experience both.
This September COMO Shambhala has designed a performance training workshop to provide guests with the tools needed to compete to their best ability, immersing them in a week of expert education, optimal nutrition and intensive fitness. Set against the dramatic landscapes of Bali, with three nights at the new oceanside COMO Uma Canggu and three nights at the flagship wellness retreat COMO Shambhala Estate in Ubud, the retreat immerses guests in beaches, rice paddies and jungle become a natural outdoor gym.
The Performance Training workshop is led by professional triathlete and trainer Jim Lubinski, and registered nutritionist Eve Persak, who is a regular host at COMO’s specialised retreat experiences. It is aimed at guests who are new to the sport and entering their first race as well as experienced athletes seeking their next personal best, or those who want to supercharge their workouts and recovery. Jim and Eve will share curated, results-driven strategies that lay the foundation for a leaner, cleaner and stronger physique. Most importantly, they will help guests integrate these techniques seamlessly and sustainably into their current lifestyle, so they can look, feel and perform their best long after their stay.
Workouts will focus on a combination of high-intensity exercises, running along the beach, swimming in the ocean, hiking Mount Abang, HIIT on the grass, strength training in the gym, alongside more restorative practices, such as yoga, aqua therapy, Pilates, performance breathing and stretching. These workouts are intended to provide a comprehensive set of modalities to noticeably improve weight and body composition, muscular strength and definition, cardiovascular endurance, balance and agility. Jim, a professional triathlete and Ironman coach, will adapt exercises to suit all abilities, from beginner to elite, emphasising proper biomechanical alignment and technique so participants get the best results.
Alongside the physical activity will be a range of interactive educational sessions on optimal nutrition, led by expert nutritionist Eve Persak. Eve’s approach is holistic, capturing the latest advances in science and sports medicine, yet understanding the uniqueness and nuance of each athlete’s physiology and lifestyle. Sessions will focus on topics including fueling recovery, eating for energy efficiency, athlete-oriented cleansing and fasting, as well as nutraceutical superfoods and supplementation. There will also be collaborative cooking and a juice-making demonstration.
This will be supported by a curated a la carte menu, optional for all participants, which will feature selections from the COMO Uma Canggu and COMO Shambhala Estate menus. The choices will reflect the nutritional priorities of the retreat’s improving strength, endurance and body composition, and enhance sports recovery.
