Babymoons are the ideal way for mums-to-be (and dads, too!) to take a break from the hectic schedule of daily life—and we can’t think of two parents-to-be who deserve a bit of R&R more than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle right now. Midway through a 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, the royal couple checked into the luxurious, ultra-private Vatuvara Private Islands Resort, Fiji, for a secluded getaway.
Situated on Kaibu, part of the Northern Lau island group in Fiji, the island is one of many snapped up by billionaires looking for a place for peace and privacy. Oakley Inc founder James Jannard—the California-based sports and lifestyle equipment manufacturers, which he sold in 2007 for over US$2billion—purchased four islands in the South Pacific in 2009, and spent five years transforming the villas on Kaibu into an exclusive luxury resort.
Forbes Magazine have called this island resort “one of the world’s most beautiful places”, but this luxe retreat is more than just a pretty face. Vatuvara describes itself as “conscientious luxury to the discerning traveller” and supports the revival and protection of the oceans and marine life around the Northern Lau island group through the Vatuvara Foundation, which tries to counter the effects of climate change and support the local coastal communities worst affected by it.

It was confirmed by Fiji’s tourism Minister Faiyaz Koya that the Duke and Duchess spent the night at Vatuvara Private Islands Resort, before they depart for Tonga on day 10 of their tour.

Accessible only by a private Twin Otter aircraft, the Royals could be sure that they were getting complete privacy at this adult-only resort when they took a day out of their packed schedule to enjoy a little relaxation.
The 800-acre island offers only three all-inclusive villas, all of which come with private infinity pools and Jacuzzis. The Vatu and Saku villas additionally offer private in-villa massage, yoga and spa facilities. Meghan Markle is an avid yoga fan, and we can imagine that after a week of royal appointments sunrise yoga on a private beach will be a welcome respite.
While at the resort, the royal couple will be able to indulge in healthy dishes at the two on-site restaurants, which uses produce from the organic gardens. Fresh fish and seafood also feature heavily on the menu, which reflects both international and local Fijian cuisine.

With a full roster of activities, including excursions to the neighbouring uninhabited private Vatuvara island, a four-hold organic-certified golf course, stand-up paddleboarding, scuba, diving, and snorkelling, there’s no shortage of things to keep you busy—though we suspect the Royals may have had a more laid-back stay during their visit.
