The St. Regis Bali Resort’s Spa Manager Made Yuliana On Finding Balance

Nestled in the family-favourite Nusa Dua region, The St. Regis Bali Resort is renowned for its excellent array of spa, wellness and dining facilities in a five-star setting. However, no trip to this hotel is complete without visiting Iridium Spa, where guests can experience pampering on another level. We chat with spa manager Made Yuliana on her first healthy holiday experience, how to reboot after a tough week and the Champagne ritual everyone must try.

What was your first healthy holiday experience?

In 2018, I decided to embark on my first healthy holiday after I realised that I was too content and I was gaining weight day after day. Sometimes, holidays can feel like free time which gives me the excuse to do whatever I like, from eating lots to doing nothing.

So, I decided to change my habits. I started paying attention to my health during the holidays, so I looked for wellness activities at hotels. I would get up early to gym and do some exercise, then take part in wellness activities at the hotel such as yoga. This gave me a good start. So now, before going on holiday, I look for places that might satisfy my five senses: sight, sound, touch, smell and taste.

How do you reboot after a hectic week?

After a busy week, I regain my inner energy and peace by spending time with my tribe. This consists of family and close friends and I enjoy being out in nature or back in my village. I clear my mind by doing workouts like yoga and combat training. Other times, I just take rest and do nothing. I focus on my breathing and being offline.

What does true balance look like at The St. Regis Bali Resort?

True balance at The St. Regis Bali Resort involves prioritising responsibility artfully, gracefully, and flawlessly.

How do you overcome one specific obstacle that you encounter daily?

I try to stay positive and calm and remember that I am not alone. I try to think positively and not worry too much. When I encounter bigger obstacles, I break them down and tackle them in smaller pieces. First, I try to face it head-on, and if that doesn’t work, then I’ll try something else. It’s also good to do collaborations with co-workers and find a mentor.

When you feel unfocused or overwhelmed what do you do?

I always have a to-do list, so I’ll start with the highest priority and work my way down. Sometimes, I delegate these tasks too. When I need rest, I force myself to take it. I take holidays so I can fully relax. After I rest, I come back happier and my head is clearer. And I feel more excited and ready to continue.

What are your travel essentials?

I can’t leave my house without my eucalyptus oil. This helps me with things like headaches, stomach aches and flus. When I rub it on my body it always makes me feel slighter better.

What are your top recommendations at The St. Regis Bali Resort‘s Iridium Spa?

If you are booking a treatment at Iridium Spa, I recommend trying the Luxury Champagne Treatment. This special treatment starts with a foot ritual, while cool drops of Champagne are poured onto the body. Next, guests can enjoy The St. Regis Spa Bali’s signature massage using grape seed scrub and grape seed oil.

The powerful antioxidant of the grapes will tone and fortify dry malnourished skin, fight free radicals, boost circulation and increase cell hydration to regenerate your skin. The massage ends with a detoxifying Champagne body mask made with white clay. Conclude your treatment with an intimate flower bath and gently emerge from this blissful relaxation with a glass of Champagne under the private gazebo.
