Mindfulness & Meditation At Amanoi’s Bespoke Wellness Immersion Retreat

Offering three detoxifying wellness immersions, Amanoi in Vietnam is one of the most tranquil settings on earth. Founder of Compare Retreats, Dervla Louli, checked into the National Park beachside resort overlooking Vinh Hy Bay to experience a personalised retreat focusing on fitness, mindfulness, meditation, and detoxing.

Light Luxurious Dining

After your initial pre-immersion wellness consultation, the team of experts personalise menus at each of the restaurants on-site for you. This step ensures guests following retreat programmes don’t feel deprived and have a variety of options to choose from on a daily basis.

During the immersion, I kept my diet clean and avoided sugar, alcohol, processed food, and carbohydrates, which was surprisingly easy thanks to fresh and clean Vietnamese cuisine, and the ample seafood options. I intermittent fasted as per my regular routine and so skipped breakfast, but enjoyed barbequed local catch at the beach club with a side of raw salad for lunch and light international fare at the main restaurant for dinner.

The personalised cooking class was one of my favourite parts of the wellness immersion. I learned how to make Pho (the Vietnamese take on bone broth), fresh rice paper rolls, and an incredible beef salad that opened up a world of fresh herbs that I had never tried before. I enjoyed my efforts over a silent solo lunch looking over the bay, and took the Amanoi cookbook home so I could recreate the dishes when I needed a Pho fix post-retreat.

Wellness Offerings

Amanoi has quickly garnered attention as one of the world’s leading luxury wellness retreats and spa resorts that offers highly personalised programmes that meet guests wherever they are in their wellness journey. Highly trained therapists give clients the utmost attention and help them to achieve their goals while caring for their every whim.

My days were scheduled from 8am to 8pm allowing for relaxation time to enjoy the pool, beach, and spa facilities as I pleased.

08:00 Morning meditation and pranayama

10:00 Healthy Vietnamese cooking class

12:00 Lunch at the beach club

13:30 Hike or movement class (Fitness, Pilates, Yoga)

15:30 Hammam or banya session

16:30 Signature treatment

19:00 Dinner at leisure

Immersions, lasting three to 21 days, are created to encourage physical and mental wellbeing while fostering positive lifestyle changes that can be continued at home. Stress management, meditation, fitness, and relaxation were some key elements that I touched on during my initial consultation, and in just 72 hours, the team helped me meet my goals.

The spa menu is diverse and includes bodywork, energy medicine, yoga, personal training, Tai Chi, Watsu, Reiki, massages, facials, scrubs, and bathing treatments. Guests who stay in one of the two famous spa houses located beside the spa are taken care of by two senior spa therapists and enjoy private facilities. The outdoor infinity pool, plunge pool, double treatment room, Jacuzzi, steam room, snow dispenser, and terrace overlooking the lake ensure you will never want (or need) to leave this perfect spa sanctuary.

Results

After just a few days I felt completely reset and recharged. Being immersed in nature has scientifically proven benefits for the mind and body, and I felt an immediate sense of calm come over me as soon as I entered Amanoi.

The location, coupled with the lush surroundings that beg to be explored are healing in themselves, and the serene views from the spa are some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. The fresh local food, daily movement, meditation sessions, and relaxing signature spa house treatments were a winning combination.
