Cathay Pacific Now Has A Yoga Sanctuary In Its Business Class Lounge

Taking #yogaeveryday to the next level, you can now even get your yogi on at the airport. Cathay Pacific has teamed up with Pure Yoga to introduce ‘The Sanctuary’ to their Business Class Lounge at The Pier in Hong Kong Airport, offering yoga and meditation before take-off to help keen yogis and stressed travellers to relax before their journey.

Wellness travellers jetting in and out of Hong Kong can enjoy the 700-square-foot space in the luxe Cathay lounge, designed to keep you zen and well-stretched before taking to the air. In partnership with the Pure Group, The Sanctuary is divided into two zones: Body and Mind. The former focuses on physical yoga, while the latter is a space for meditation.

“Wellness is becoming increasingly important to our customers and The Sanctuary by Pure Yoga in our Pier Business Class lounge is the perfect place for to relax before the flight,” said Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific General Manager Customer Experience and Design. “We listen to the needs of our customers and continuously evolve to improve their experience with us.”

“Whether it’s dining at our popular Noodle Bar, catching up with some work, or enjoying a drink at the bar or at the Teahouse, there are myriad ways for our customers to spend time at the lounge. Now they’ll also be encouraged to meditate and practice yoga before flying with us.”

Led by guided videos from Pure Yoga teachers, The Body Sanctuary also has a space for self-practice. Additionally, there are instructions for seated stretches, which are ideal while you wait in the airport and as you fly, to improve circulation, enhance joint mobility, and relax on your journey. In The Mind Sanctuary, audio meditation and gazing meditation are both offered. Comfortable cushions are provided for those meditating, along with noise cancelling headphones, iPads and guided meditation audios, while graphics for the gazing meditation help to facilitate Trataka yoga practice.

The Sanctuary in the Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge comes after Pure Yoga and Cathay Pacific partnered in January 2018 to launch ‘Travel Well with Yoga’, a series of inflight videos to help passengers ease into their journeys with meditation and yoga. Both the in-lounge Sanctuary and the in-flight practices help to relax passengers before flying, improve focus and memory, and help prevent common travel pains like stiffness and bad circulation.

Additionally, Diamond and Gold Marco Polo Club members arriving in Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon flights are given complimentary one-day access to any Pure Fitness centre or a choice of any Pure Yoga class up to 12 times a year.
