Six Senses Opens Second Urban Property In Singapore (Now Closed)

After the successful opening of Six Senses Duxton in April 2018, sister property Six Senses Maxwell opened on December 1, 2018. The luxury hotel brand’s second urban destination is the second of two heritage buildings that together form Six Senses Singapore.

“Six Senses Maxwell allows us to fully introduce the brand into our first city location, and honour the owners’ commitment to complete the Six Senses experience in Singapore,” says General Manager Murray Aitken, who is responsible for bringing together both Six Senses Duxton and Six Senses Maxwell as one.

“We’re incredibly proud of the progress of Six Senses Duxton… Guests of both hotels will be able to utilise the facilities at either location and enjoy a host of crafted experiences with our trusted partners in the neighbourhood.”

Split across two buildings in Chinatown, the two properties are a five-minute walk apart. Six Senses Maxwell is housed in a colonial-style 19th-century heritage building that has received the Urban Redevelopment Authority Architectural Heritage Award.

Sustainably restored by celebrated designer Jacques Garcia, the 138-room Six Senses Maxwell was designed by internationally-acclaimed French architect and designer Jacques Garcia, and offers an alternative aesthetic with his signature European style, melding tradition and modernity.

The interior public spaces, all unique given the architectural style of the original building, come together harmoniously and add to the hotel’s charm. Six Senses Maxwell houses five food and beverage concepts—ranging from Murray Terrace, a classic European-style brasserie, to Cook & Tras, a social library restaurant and bar influenced by heritage Straits cuisine.

As with all Six Senses properties, wellness travellers are catered to with on-site spa pods, being unveiled in 2019, where guests and locals can enjoy signature massages, facials, and beauty treatments. The health-focus continues with personal trainers and yoga classes to round out the Six Senses Singapore wellness experience.
