Around the world, the Irish, their descendants and friends will be celebrating St Patrick’s Day on March 17th. Pints of Guinness will be flowing – and no doubt more than one keg of beer will be dyed green – but here at CompareRetreats.com headquarters in Hong Kong, we’re taking a slightly healthier approach to celebrating Ireland’s patron saint. While there are plenty of wellness events in Hong Kong this month, we decided to add in one more. So if you fancy getting your sweat on this Saturday, join us for a celebratory St Patrick’s Day hike.
Led by CompareRetreats.com founder and marathon runner Dervla Louli, we’ll be walking to the top of Hong Kong’s Victoria Peak for (hopefully!) crystal-clear views of the city skyline. Don’t worry – whether you’re a hardened hiker or consider yourself more of an amateur ambler, the event is open to all abilities (dogs, children and all).
The walk up is roughly three kilometres, with more than one place to stop for photos along the way. The only essential is that you go green: in what you wear and the reusable water bottle you bring. We plan on going #plasticfree to keep the path clean and green for other hikers.
While there’s no need to pre-register, check out the event on Facebook and let us know if you’re interested. The walk will start at 44 Kotewall Road (where Kotewall, Hatton and Conduit Road all meet), though you should recognise the bright-green group. The event is free to all – as if a guilt-free Paddy’s Day pint of Guinness wasn’t priceless enough. We’ll see you on Saturday 17th!
