Location

Situated on 25 acres of landscaped gardens, Carnoustie Ayurveda & Wellness Resort is located in the riverside town of Kerala, India. Positioned approximately 60 minutes from Cochin International Airport next to a beautiful beach in Marari, the retreat is surrounded by topical foliage and ticks all ‘tropical getaway’ boxes.

Accommodation

Carnoustie’s five-star standards extend to its luxurious accommodation options. There are six room types which include: Punag Pool Villas (236 square metres), Semantha Pool Villas (164 square metres), Zukra Pool Villas (112 square metres), Mallika Pool Villas (98 square metres) and Akund Deluxe Villas (102 square metres).

Fusing traditional Indian architecture with modern amenities, all villas have charming thatched roofs, gorgeous timber decks, stylish interiors, outdoor bathrooms with rain showers, and impressive amenities such as Bose speaker systems. The Punag Pool Villa also has a private Jacuzzi (in addition to the pool).

Food Programme

With a focus on healthy Ayurvedic cuisine, the meals at Carnoustie showcase continental favourites, South Indian delicacies regional seafood specialties. Breakfast, lunch and diner are all served buffet style, although there is an a la carte menu as well. Health drinks include potent Ayurvedic tonics, healing elixirs and herb-infused juices.

The resort has an organic garden where it grows organic fruit, vegetables, spices and Ayurvedic herbs using ‘bio-extract’ techniques. All drinking water at the retreat has been infused with healing herbs to enhance the rejuvenation process. While this is a health retreat, Carnoustie allows guests little indulgences, and alcohol is available for those who want it.

Treatment Programme

Carnoustie has a wide assortment of Ayurvedic programmes to choose from. These include: Detox, Rejuvenation, Healing, Anti-Ageing, Weight Loss and Yoga packages. The retreat has a highly qualified team of medical experts including a number of resident doctors and respected pranic healers, who supervise treatments and adapt packages to match individual needs.

Combining modern science with traditional, age-old practices, Carnoustie also offers naturopathy treatments and ‘Kalari’ (Indian martial arts) instruction, along with marma therapy, pranic healing and daily yoga classes. In addition to its dedicated spa, the retreat also has a 92-foot house boat for cruises around Kerala’s famous ‘backwater’ rivers. Equipped with all the mod-cons you’d find on land, including air-con, living and dining areas and spacious sundecks, the boat is a lovely place to soak up the Indian sunshine while enjoying a cup of tea between treatments.
