Sicily has always had a way of pulling in the world’s great romantics, and this summer it adds one more name to that list. Grand Hotel Timeo, a Belmond Hotel, Taormina, is opening a permanent Dior Spa within its historic gardens—the maison’s first fixed address on the island, and a fitting one, given how much of Christian Dior’s own imagination was shaped by Italy.

A Spa Built Into the Garden
Rather than carving out a separate wing, the new spa is woven into Grand Hotel Timeo’s terraced grounds, with four treatment cabins named Diorazur, Diorama, Rosa dei Venti, and the Isola Bella Suite.

The design leans on the property’s own Sicilian mosaic floors alongside Dior Spa’s signature materials—stone, onyx, pale woods—so the space reads as an extension of the hotel’s grande-dame character. The Isola Bella Suite is the one to request for a proper occasion: built for two, it comes with its own beauty room for customised make-up sessions and an infrared sauna for muscle relaxation and detoxification.

The Philosophy
Dior calls its treatment approach Haute Wellness—a deliberate blend of what it terms High Definition, High Touch, and High-Technologies, aimed at visible, non-invasive transformation rather than short-lived pampering. The signature offering, Talisman of Vitality, draws on lithotherapy and Ayurvedic principles: guests choose a semi-precious Sicilian gem to guide the ritual, its energy meant to diffuse through the treatment via soothing, purifying stones. It’s a distinctly Mediterranean spin on a house that usually leans French in its references.
The facial menu is overseen by facialist Hadda Akrim and includes the house’s now-familiar names—Kobi-Dior, Golden Aura, and a Dior-powered HydraFacial protocol—while body treatments range across New Look, D-Tissue, Constellation, and 9 Moons. For guests who want their wellness to extend beyond the treatment room, the hotel also offers Dior Wellness Villeggiatura, a broader holistic programme co-created with Pilates specialist Byrony Deery and nutrition and functional-medicine practitioner Rose Ferguson, built around anti-inflammatory movement and hormesis-based practices for deeper, more lasting vitality.

The choice of location is not incidental. Christian Dior found in Italy a wellspring of inspiration that shaped his sculptural approach to both fashion and perfume, and Grand Hotel Timeo’s landscape—overlooking Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea, framed by the ancient Teatro Antico—echoes the same theatrical, Greek-and-Baroque grandeur found at the house’s own Château de la Colle Noire.
