We speak with co-founder Iva Bravic Millereau on her top tips for sleep enhancement and how RE.VITYL can help.

Could you tell us about yourself and how you started RE.VITYL? I was an exhausted mum of two young children and had a very demanding corporate career. Taking business review meetings in the middle of the night while living in Shanghai and working with three different time zones, I found myself taking melatonin more and more to fall asleep. It started a vicious circle and I started searching for natural solutions to help me find good quality sleep. This is how the idea of RE.VITYL was born to harness nature’s energy to deliver us all natural sleep aids. With my business partner who had sleep troubles since her teens, we looked for natural mineral crystal components to use in our sleep products and this is how the idea of the brand was born.

Who is RE.VITYL aimed at? 70% of people worldwide have said they have been experiencing sleep problems in the past year, impacting all ages and genders. Our core focus is sleep deprived parents; however we have quickly seen that our brand and products are welcomed by all ages and genders. Men represent 30% of our overall clients and we recently collaborated with a men’s website based in Chicago and received overwhelming enthusiasm. It is exciting to see that conversation around sleep is changing and that sleep is becoming a pivotal part of every wellness routine. After all, sleep is one the three pillars of healthy living. How does RE.VITYL incorporate sustainability in products and ethos? RE.VITYL prioritises sustainable and socially responsible practices in all areas, using biodegradable, recyclable and reusable packaging wherever possible. We are proud of the difference we are making. Packaging waste makes up major portion of municipal solid waste. For our main products we use wood paper-pulp pouches which are reusable for as long as you take care of it and they are naturally biodegradable. Plus, they look great too! At the beginning we had some feedback that our customers would have preferred a big shiny box, but we did not change course. We believe the consumer mindset is changing and that more and more wellness consumers are conscious of the carbon footprint their consumer choices have.

All essential oils are fully traceable from harvesting to distillation and our sea sponges are sustainably harvested by the same family for over 300 years! Lastly our silk products are all Oeko-Tex ® certified.

What are your top tips for sleep enhancement? The first and foremost is to make sure you do some physical activity throughout the day and to start syncing your circadian rhythm with the sun. Make sure you start gradually dimming your light in your home from 7pm onwards. Try your best to eat a light dinner, do not drink alcohol at night and to limit yourself to only 30-45 minutes of TV. Don’t forget to turn off the WiFi in your home to limit EMF energy. You will see that sitting in your bed reading or journaling can be very healing and relaxing. What’s a common misconception on sleep? People expect to go on with their day as usual, eat a heavy dinner and drink a few glasses of wine, watch Netflix until midnight and then to put on the sleep mask to fall asleep immediately. Setting a healthy sleep routine starts from the mid afternoon. Be mindful of what you intake after 3pm, what media you consume and what you eat as these can have a big impact on how well you will sleep at night. Your daily choices will determine what kind of sleep you will get.
