Surrounded by rice paddies, Seventh Seal Luxury Retreat is located near Seminyak, approximately 45 minutes from the airport. Although Seminyak itself is a busy shopping district and tourist magnet, the retreat’s serene atmosphere is intact thanks to plenty of tropical foliage in the retreat’s neighbouring surroundings.

With just six suites and a maximum of 12 guests at any time, Seventh Seal Luxury Retreat is truly boutique. As the name implies, luxury standards are reflected in the retreat’s plush design and sophisticated décor. Revolving around a traditional open-air Balinese ‘wantilan’ (pavilion) structure, spacious wood-floored lounge and dining areas overlook the retreat’s lengthy lap pool.

Hammocks, outdoor day beds and sunbathing recliners are scattered around the property while funky, contemporary paintings and billowing white blinds complete the tropical resort look. The villa also houses a Jacuzzi, gym and media room.

Delicious and nutritious, the ‘low human intervention’ (LHI) food served at Seventh Seal is packed with wholesome vitality. The retreat’s gourmet vegetarian/pescetarian menu doesn’t contain red meat, gluten, dairy, refined sugar or refined salt. Instead, it features lots of organic vegetables, seasonal fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, free-range eggs and locally-sourced seafood.

Balinese flavours also feature on the menu in the form of local ingredients such as red rice, fresh turmeric, ginger, vanilla beans, cashews and tempeh. The retreat encourages mindful eating practices and supports juice cleansing if guests opt to fast. Wholefood cooking classes are part of the package and guests are given retreat recipes to take home with them so they continue healthy eating post-retreat.
