With an increased awareness of the effects of pollution, plastic usage and unsustainable practices, going green has become more important than ever. With Earth Day (April 22) fast approaching, there’s a new wellness festival in town that’s hoping to make a big impact. The Conscious Festival is the latest initiative from Green Is The New Black, a company dedicated to defending the earth and making sustainable living the norm. Better yet, CompareRetreats.com has tickets for a lucky wellness warrior and friend to have access to the whole festival – read on to find out more.
The three-day festival is coming to Hong Kong for the first time April 20th-22nd. Hosted at PMQ, the event will host an ‘Unconference’ industry day on the Friday to discuss ‘how to make business circular’ and how businesses can collectively reduce their impact on the planet, while the Saturday and Sunday will be open to all with ticketed talks from sustainability experts and eco-warrior leaders, and a free-entry marketplace of more than 70 sustainable retailers, brands and artists.
The Unconference will feature over 20 international speakers from a variety of industries, including Hanna Hallin, H&M’s Sustainability Manager for Greater China; David Goldsmith, the founder of Project Moon Hut; and Paola Cortese-D’arcy, founder of Zero Waste Life who last year reduced all her household waste into a single glass jar.
The Talks will be divided into four sessions, featuring a huge range of speakers to discuss the given topic: Mind and Expanding Consciousness; Conscious Parenting, Holistic Education and Living; Consumption and Journeying to Zero Waste; and Earth, Biodiversity, and Ego vs. Eco. Guest speakers include Cristina McLauchlan of the Vibe Tribe, Sofie Jacobs of Urban Hatch, and Peggy Chan of Grassroots Pantry.
The Marketplace, which is free to enter, is an immersive experience featuring local mindful art, fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands, health-and-eco-conscious grub (including one of our favourite vegan restaurants, MANA!), live music, art exhibitions, games and workshops, and a film festival of work curated by Ocean Recovery Alliance and Conscious Cinema to highlight environmental issues.
Are you ready for an immersive environmental awakening? If you want access to the whole festival – Unconference, Talks and Marketplace – just enter our competition below and you and a friend could win tickets to Hong Kong’s first Conscious Festival.
