Retaining a physical, emotional and mental balance is integral to good wellness, and Hong Kong’s wellness scene is taking steps to achieve that. This month, it’s Earth Day on Sunday 22nd of April, so we’re thinking about sustainability more than ever before: the good news is, with Conscious Festivals and zero-waste pop-ups, it’s easier than it’s ever been. April 6-8: Hong Kong Rugby Sevens
Where the world meets Hong Kong: the biggest sporting event of the year is back. Rugby Sevens will kick off on Friday 6th and run over the weekend. If you haven’t got tickets, then you can still enjoy the games from the village or Hong Kong’s local bars.
April 12: Urban Mums by Urban Hatch
For mums-to-be, Urban Hatch is hosting a prenatal evening with midwife Sofie Jacbos to help with concerns, worries, and offer tips and tricks to make your birthing experience the best it can be. The session will focus on movement and exercise for during and after pregnancy, nutrition before and after birth, and how to retain mental and emotional balance.
April 14: Spartan Race
Hong Kong’s fourth Spartan Race is back for another mud-filled day of military-style assault course challenges. Expect monkey bars, sandbag carries, and burpees galore. It’s not too late to sign up if you want to test your fitness – or, just head along as a spectator and cheer your friends and family across the finish line.
April 19: To Eat or Not to Eat
Launching a six-part series of wellness lectures related to aging and dieting, the first of the seminars features guest speaker Joelle Bradford, a Naturopathic Doctor with a Bachelors of Science in Clinical Nutrition who will discuss the myths surrounding intermittent fasting and how to nourish your body correctly.
April 20-22: The Conscious Festival by Green Is The New Black
Green Is The New Black is the latest eco platform to join Asia’s booming wellness scene. Aiming to raise awareness to #LiveMoreConsciously, they are bringing the Conscious Festival to Hong Kong over Earth Day weekend to educate with an industry-day ‘Unconference’ on April 20th, and motivational talks and exhibitions from some of Asia’s best innovators in sustainability and conscious living with an open marketplace hosting over 70 green, eco and sustainable brands on April 21-22.
April 24-30: Four Seasons Masters of Wellness
The Four Seasons Hong Kong continues with its Masters of Wellness series this month with Shaylini Somani, a Reiki practitioner using Reiki healing therapy to help release imbalances and blockages and to find balance in the body and soul.
April 26: Food For Thought: How To Do Good By Eating Better
This panel discussion organised by 178 Degrees is aimed to raise awareness of consumer choice and trends and its impact on environmental issues. Joining the panel is Peter Find, the Executive Chef of The Ritz-Carlton, who will perform a culinary demonstration using sustainable New Zealand salmon. The event is free for WeWork members.
April 28: Women’s Five 5KM Run
Women’s Five is hosting their annual 5KM race at the end of April, the run through Aberdeen Country Park is a scenic sprint open to all abilities. Additionally, Women’s Five offer support in training for the race to help you achieve your fitness goals: their schedule includes yoga, meditation and of course, running, so that you have a like-minded wellness community to support you in your journey.
