Retreats come in all shapes and sizes, but there are some that really stand out in our memories because of the uniqueness of the resort, the exceptional service and staff, or the life-changing nature of the experience. We quizzed the Compare Retreats’ team of editors and experts on which wellness resorts were their personal favourites and why.

I just recently visited the Four Seasons Sayan in Ubud and did their “Guided By Gratitude” wellness retreat. It was the perfect mix of spiritual and athletic with a lot of pampering. My activities ranged from Hatha yoga and meditation to an amazingly indulgent “sacred nap”. It was an experience I will never forget at a super-luxe resort. I left feeling refreshed and balanced.

It’s so hard to choose, but Six Senses Singapore stands out as a really wonderful experience. It’s more a healthy hotel than a retreat, but I love the flexibility in incorporating your wellness habits into exploring a city, and being able to experience local wellness traditions like the TCM consult and tea appreciation workshop, which Six Senses Singapore helped facilitate. The staff are wonderful and the heritage hotels and boutique design provide a really unique experience of Singapore.

How to narrow it down to one? Most recently, Shinta Mani Wild, a glamping experience in Cambodia’s Cardamom National Park, which heals with adrenalin (the zip line), sound therapy (the river), purpose (on patrol with Wildlife Alliance) and, of course, delightful spa treatments.

Any Aman resort: I haven’t been to all of them or that many but every time each resort has blown my mind. The surrounding culture is uniquely intertwined in the architecture and wellness offerings of each place.
