Healthy eating isn’t limited to bland salads or carb-free meals—increasing research and understanding of different diets has led to a wealth of possibilities. Fine dining is no exception, with restaurants taking on new approaches to cuisine with healthier alternatives. Recent years have brought Hong Kong’s catalogue of healthy eating spots to new highs, from Michelin-starred eats to sustainable-driven cuisine. Here are some of the best healthy upscale restaurants to try—some old, some new—for a guilt-free indulgent experience.
Asaya Kitchen
Nestled within urban wellness sanctuary Rosewood Hong Kong, Asaya Kitchen showcases sustainably-sourced seafood and seasonal local produce to nourish and nurture its guests. The menu is mostly plant-based, with some pescatarian options, and can cater for vegan diets upon request. Taking an elevated approach to healthy dining, Asaya Kitchen is the go-to destination for nutritional cuisine, perhaps combined with a holistic pre- or post-meal treatment at the in-house spa.

Amber
Offering an innovative approach to French cuisine, Culinary Director Richard Ekkebus has set the bar for sustainable fine dining in the city thanks to his nourishing menu at Amber. The evolution of the Michelin-starred eatery at Landmark Mandarin Oriental led to a range of French and Asian-inspired dishes which stray from butter and saturated fats, and focus on milk alternatives and non-saturated plant-based oils.
